What is Orthodontics?Orthodontics is a special field of dentistry concerned with the prevention, interception and correction of problems relating to the growth and development of the teeth and jaws.
Orthodontic Treatment BENEFITS Appearance: to correct cosmetic or appearance problems and enhance self-confidence. Cleaning of teeth: to help with tooth cleaning and prevent decay and gum disease—which can cause tooth loss. Chewing: to correct your bite so that your ability to chew food is better. Speech problems: some people experience difficulty in speaking properly because of alignment problems with their teeth and jaws. Gum damage: in cases of incorrect bite, teeth may damage gum tissue. For example, in cases of deep bite, the lower front teeth can injure the gum behind the upper front teeth. Tooth wear: crooked teeth often show abnormal, and sometimes damaging, patterns of wear. Occlusion: occlusion (the “bite”) describes how the upper and lower teeth meet during chewing or when the jaws are closed. A person who has an alignment problem with their teeth or jaws has a malocclusion (“bad bite”).
APPLIANCES Developmental Orthodontics Developmental orthodontics aims to correct any skeletal, dental and myofunctional discrepancy or habits during the developmental stage of a child to ensure that the child develops a full set of dental arches with straight teeth and a good bite. Quite often, conventional braces can be avoided if the malocclusion (“bad bite”) is diagnosed and treated early. Fixed Braces Fixed braces can be metal or ceramic on the front of your teeth or metal on the inside surface so they are hidden from view. The brace is fixed to your teeth for the whole of your treatment.
You should not try to remove it because you may damage your teeth and the treatment will not work. It is important for you to brush your teeth three times per day and use a fluoride toothpaste. MYOBRACE®
The MYOBRACE® simultaneously develops the jaw, aligns the teeth, and treats the tongue and oral muscular (myofunctional) habits which cause the orthodontic problems. Required use is just 2 hours daily, plus overnight while sleeping. The MYOBRACE® is made with a soft, silicone material with tooth slots to align each tooth. The MYOBRACE® is designed to fill an active role in the orthodontic treatment for children.

Orthodontic Aligners The orthodontic aligners is a new way to straighten your teeth without conventional braces. The aligners system uses a series of unique custom fabricated transparent plastic aligners to gently move your teeth to their prescribed position. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move, little by little, week by week, until they have straightened to their ideal position.
